Idaho Awards Unisys Seven-Year Medicaid ContractUnisys Health PAS solution drives efficiency and cost savings for state Medicaid programs
BLUE BELL, Pa., December 6, 2007 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has awarded the company two seven-year, firm-fixed price contracts to provide systems and operational services as fiscal agent for the state’s Medicaid program. The contracts consist of a two-year system design, development and implementation phase, followed by five years of operations totaling $116.5 million. There is an additional three year option, exercisable by mutual agreement, worth $51 million. If the option is exercised the total contract value is $167.5 million.
Unisys bid on and won two of four Medicaid contracts recently procured by IDHW – the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and the Electronic Document Management System.
Unisys will design, develop and implement a state-of-the-art healthcare information management system for Idaho Medicaid. The new MMIS, Health PAS, is an innovative health care payer administration solution that is the only federally certified MMIS solution in the country comprised of commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS). The design, development, and implementation phase of the project is expected to take about two years, during which time Unisys will configure Health PAS in accordance with Idaho’s specifications, conduct testing to verify functionality, and implement the new system.
