Nishant Pillai

In addition to providing leadership and guidance to prominent cargo security programs, Nishant has co-authored several whitepapers, working closely with the industry stakeholders like the World Shipping Council (WSC), American President Lines (APL), P&O Nedlloyd, American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and leading importers like General Motors (GM), Starbucks, JC Penney, Sara Lee, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Target Corporation. He has had the opportunity to present his experience and subject matter expertise at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cargo Security Symposium, the U.S. Maritime Security Expo, the North American Cargo Security Forum, and the ISO TC8 conferences in Germany and Brazil.

Nishant Pillai is a director in the Customs and Maritime Security practice at Unisys Corporation. He has extensive experience in the delivery of projects globally, focused on the implementation of global standards, trade facilitation mechanisms, maritime systems integration and end-to-end supply chain, cargo and port security technologies.

Nishant’s clients include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Port of Aqaba, Jordan and the Ports of Los Angeles, New York and Seattle/ Tacoma. He also has first hand experience at the Ports of Hong Kong, Hamburg, Kaohsiung, Karachi and Santos by working on programs such as Operation Safe Commerce (OSC), Advanced Container Security Device (ACSD), Secure Freight Initiative, and Tamper Evident Secure Container (TESC).

He holds a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune, India and Masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California
