It found that Unisys is a leader in two key categories of the Microsoft Ecosystem: managed services for Azure and the 365 Modern Workplace. A leader has a highly-attractive product and service offering and a very strong market and competitive position. They are regarded as opinion leaders and ensure innovative strength and stability.
“Unisys has a good combination of Azure skills and security expertise in the Australian market to support the management of Azure environments with exacting security requirements,” said the report’s author, Craig Baty, Distinguished Analyst, ISG. “In addition, Unisys’ modern workplace services span advisory, migration, personalisation and support, and this practice is well-placed to leverage its pedigree in catering to large organisations in Australia.”
The report noted the following strengths, among others, for Unisys’ managed services for Azure:
- CloudForte™ cloud management platform manages multi-cloud environments - including hybrid/private cloud and multiple public clouds. This has been developed in response to the growing prevalence of multi-cloud environments in Australian businesses.
- Strong security know-how – Unisys has extensive experience in environments with exacting security compliance requirements such as government, defence and banking.
- Virtual desktop as a service – using VMWare virtual desktop on Azure for fast and secure way to move to a remote working environment.
- AI-based predictive and proactive service operations – to efficiently identify and remedy issues.
The report noted the following strengths for Unisys’ managed services for 365 Modern Workplace:
- Strategic focus on digital workplace solutions - with Microsoft 365 a key part of this initiative including migration, unified endpoint management, workspace productivity as a service and merged reality for field services support.

- Responsiveness to COVID-19 in Australia – including agility to set up virtual desktops for large clients and use of merged-reality to provide socially distanced IT support.
“We are proud to partner with Microsoft. The rapid move to new hybrid and remote-working models necessitated by COVID-19 has highlighted the benefits of cloud-based flexible infrastructure and effective collaboration tools. Many Australian organisations are now looking for ways to support long term changes to their digital workplace and employee experience. But multi-cloud environments and hybrid workplaces are complex. With Azure and 365, the Microsoft Ecosystem provides key technologies to support this change. When combined with an organizational change management approach that also spans people, processes and culture, employers are able to more fully embrace the capability of the technology and create experience parity for their employees – no matter where they work or which device they use,” said Andrew Whelan, Vice President Client Management, Unisys Asia Pacific
