Unisys and NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation Celebrate Grand Opening of GovConnnectNSW Service Desk
Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Dominic Perrottet, officially opens new Sydney-based service desk creating 128 jobs in New South Wales
SYDNEY, 11 March, 2016 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today commemorated the opening of its new service desk in Rhodes, Sydney, established to provide centralised IT support services to NSW Government departments and agencies under the GovConnectNSW brand.
In June 2015, the NSW State Government selected Unisys for a six-year contract to provide IT services for clients of its incumbent in-house shared services provider, ServiceFirst, via a consumption-based delivery model designed to improve productivity for government departments and agencies.
As a result, Unisys has created and filled 128 new positions to support GovConnectNSW. Almost 90 percent of roles working on the engagement are based in NSW.
Efficiencies have already been achieved after the Unisys GovConnectNSW service desk went live in December 2015. Even though the number of calls to the service desk in January 2016 increased by 29 percent compared to January 2015, calls were answered within a third of the time (50 seconds vs 152 seconds) and the number of missed calls fell by two thirds.
The service desk provides a centralised point of contact for the IT and field services, delivered by Unisys, as well as the SAP support, payroll, finance, HR and procurement functions provided by Infosys, all under the GovConnectNSW brand.
Completing the first phase of the program on schedule in December 2015, Unisys has assumed management of the existing environment and supports seven 'foundation' agencies: the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, Department of Premier and Cabinet; the Public Service Commission; Service NSW; The Treasury; NSW Office of the Children's Guardian, and the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal. Including associated beneficiary agencies, Unisys is supporting a total of 24 agencies across the NSW State Government.
Unisys has also begun a transformation program to transition the client agencies to a consumption-based model, running on Unisys-owned systems in the new GovDC location.
Tony Windever, vice president and general manager, enterprise solutions, Unisys Asia Pacific said: "We are delighted to welcome the Minister to officially open our service desk for GovConnectNSW. We worked with the government to design a solution that kept the vast majority of jobs in NSW and have attracted a smart and enthusiastic workforce for the engagement based here in Rhodes and across the state."
